In a world that rewards success and winning, L'Arche communities are places where people with and without learning disabilities can take time to explore who they are, not just what they can do. L'Arche London is a place of welcome and belonging where everyone is transformed by the experience of community, relationship, disability and difference.

We believe that as we live our ordinary moments together in community we experience something extraordinary and develop long lasting relationships.

"L'Arche gave me the opportunity to grow more than I ever thought I could."
Lydia, L'Arche London Assistant

People choose to join L'Arche as a support worker for people with learning disabilities (we say 'assistants') for a variety of reasons. You might be looking for a career break or a career change, wanting to give your life new meaning. You might come to L'Arche to learn or develop new skills and attitudes to people with learning disabilities or you might be a care professional seeking a new context and deeper meaning in your work.

"At L'Arche there is always room at the table..."
Richard, L'Arche London Community Member

There are several ways to work in a L’Arche community; either as a Residential/Live-in Assistant, a Non-residential/Live-out Assistant or if you want to work more flexibly as a Relief Assistant.

We are an inclusive Christian community, welcoming people of all faiths and none, from all around the world. Our training and personal development programme includes opportunities for reflection, mentoring and care qualifications.

Excellence in care and a commitment to living in community is what makes us unique. We are a high quality care and support provider, regulated by the Care Quality Commission in England & Wales.
