We are looking for people ideally with 1+ years experience in care and the Care Certificate (or equivalent qualification) to join us. Whilst we welcome applications from people of all genders, at present (May 2022) we are prioritising applications from female candidates to balance our team and the range of support we offer. All roles of this type are open to UK citizens, those who already have permission to work in the UK and international applicants from outside the UK as this role qualifies for a 3 - 5 year Tier 2 Skilled Worker Visa under the UK Government's Health and Care visa arrangements as it is a role in an eligible occupation code (6145) and providing adult social care services. These roles are full time 40 hours per week, worked across 5 days including the requirement to work in the evening and at weekends. All assistants get 2 consecutive days off a week, however due to the needs of the service these are unlikely to be at the weekend. We are proud to be a London Living Wage employer. The starting salary is £22,984 (£11.05 per hour), rising in year two to £23,608 per annum gross (£11.35 per hour). We also provide 30 days paid holiday per year and a pension. All assistants do between 1 - 3 sleepover shifts per week, which are paid separately at £42 per sleepover. Based on an average of 2 sleepovers a week, this works out as an extra £3360 per year before tax and deductions. Everyone is supported to complete the Care Certificate qualification, receiving training in a range of subjects including Makaton sign language, safe moving and handling, managing medication, the history of social care in the UK and understanding autism. Time allocated for mandatory training is paid. We also provide opportunities for paid study for a QCF qualification and to participate in L’Arche UK’s national leadership programme. We provide everyone with personal development support including opportunities for individual and group reflection and a mentoring programme. We are looking for people ideally with 1+ years experience and the Care Certificate (or equivalent qualification) to join us, as well as people who are looking to start their career in social care. We are always looking for people with previous L'Arche experience (either from L'Arche London or other L'Arche communities around the world) or external candidates with relevant care experience to join our bank of Relief Support Assistants. Unfortunately we are not able to sponsor visas for these roles. This is a flexible working role with hours dependent on your availability and the needs of the people you support. The hours we can offer to Relief Bank Assistants vary from week to week, but the majority of the relief support hours we have available are at weekends and in the evenings. We are looking for people to join us for at least one year. Once they have completed their initial 8 weeks, Relief Bank Support Assistants submit their monthly availability to their Coordinator, who then matches this with the needs of the people we support. We are a London Living Wage employer. Our hourly rate is £11.05 per hour plus £1.33 holiday pay in lieu of holiday, a total of £12.38 per hour. We also pay a base fee of £42 per sleepover shift.
